(a)
Social
Support Program (SSP)
aims at providing social support to poor and vulnerable people and communities
especially in places where government efforts have not reached effectively. The
YANDI areas of interest for the SSP include; Primary Health Care (PHC), Education, Leadership & Governance, SDGs
& VISION2025 advocacy. The extent of work to be done under the SSP will
be dependent largely on availability of funding in the form of grants and
donations by both local and international agencies and organizations.
(b) Skill for Jobs (S4J) aims to provide relevant skills to unemployed youths and graduates which will make them attractive in the job market. This scheme aims to help solve the huge unemployment problems in Nigeria as this will lay particular emphasis on capacity building for demand driven skill areas. Three major trainings will be advocated and conducted under the S4J scheme viz; Vocational Skills training, Entrepreneurship trainings and the Employability trainings. YANDI will work with its partners to help fix most of the trainees with relevant SMEs and organisations for further internship, apprenticeship or permanent job roles.
(c)
Skill
for Enterprise (S4E) has
the same objective as the S4J but in addition to the trainings, the
participants will be further assisted to set up their own businesses. They will
be given starter packs at the end of their trainings. Some of the participants
will be linked with agencies (such as Bank of Industry - BOI, Small &
Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria –SMEDAN, Bank of Agriculture -
BOA e.t.c) ) that can provide loans and grants for their start-up business upon
approval of a bankable business proposal.
The YANDI
areas of interest for the S4J and S4E are; Agriculture,
Entrepreneurship & Youth Empowerment, Technology & ICT and Power &
Renewable Energy
The S4J and S4E
programs will be carried out for the purpose of business creation and job
creation. To this end, they will be run as a business which shall seek investor
participation for funding availability.
YANDI shall
ensure that in executing the S4J and S4E programs, the participating youths are
not put under any unbearable financial pressure. Funding agencies and investors
will bear a greater part of the funding requirements.
Three key
trainings will be undertaken by all participants. These trainings will be
carried out within a period of 1 month to 1 year depending of the type of skill

YANDI Vocational Skill / Business
Sectors and Subsectors
Key Business Features
In order to
create the new businesses under the YANDI scheme, the following important
features will be paramount
1.
Value addition to farm products: To enhance job creation along the
value chain and increase the export potentials of the products.
2.
Local content driven: in all situations, local solutions
must first be sort before considering importation. Local materials must be
purchased, locally fabricated equipments should be used (especially when they
are equally efficient)
3.
Waste to Wealth: the biogas technology will be
effectively driven in the YANDI scheme. This technology will help us convert
all YANDI agricultural waste to biogas and organic fertilizers. The biogas will
be used for cooking, heating of animal pens, lightening. This will also be an
integral part of YANDI’s rural development agenda and YANDI commitment to use
of renewable energy and the global fight against climate change.
